
Ashley Urrutia-Avila

In addition to innovating women’s health by redesigning the current vaginal speculum, Ashley also works as an undergraduate researcher investigating the impacts biophysical cues have in somatic cell reprogramming. After graduation, she plans on continuing her education by pursuing a PhD in Biomedical Engineering. In her spare time, Ashley enjoys playing tennis and watching the latest shows.

Joshua T. Wang
Material Selection, Business & Marketing
Josh enjoys conducting undergraduate research in the field of energy harvesting and pacemaker technologies and co-leads a research group. He also has extensive internship experience in medtech startups and enjoys the fast-paced environment. After graduating from UCI, he is pursuing a Master’s of Engineering degree with a specialization in Biomedical Engineering. In his free time, Josh loves camping, board sports, and watching movies.

Madhumita Kannan
Design & Quality Engineering
Madhu currently serves as a project manager and undergraduate researcher in a project developing a microfluidic device for in vitro testing of cancer immunotherapy treatments. Throughout her undergraduate years, she has interned as a Systems Verification, Validation and Systems Engineer at medical device companies such as Instrumentation Laboratory, Illumina, and Dexcom. After graduation, she plans on pursuing a Masters in Engineering degree in Bioengineering. In her spare time, Madhu loves dancing and going on hikes.

Mei Jin
Design & Prototyping
Mei currently works as an undergraduate researcher building an energy harvesting device for rechargeable pacemakers. After graduation, she plans on pursuing a thesis-based Master’s in Biomedical Engineering, specializing in cellular and molecular engineering. In her spare time, Mei can reliably be spotted on the badminton court.

Henry Nguyen
Design & Prototyping
On top of his position on Feminora, Henry has had past experience in undergrad research developing a MatLab platform for recording and utilizing ECG data in brain-computer interfacing (BCI) applications. After graduation, Henry plans to apply his interests in the medical field by pursuing career opportunities in biomechanics, biorobotics, and BCI. When Henry’s finished drafting his CAD, you’d find him drafting sketches for his personal illustrations and animations.
